The ECMO bed is a product specially designed for the ICU and adapted to the use of an ECMO system.
ECMO system
An ECMO system can take over the function of lungs and heart. Venous blood is passed through a cannula to equipment where oxygen is added to the blood and carbon dioxide is removed from the blood. The blood is then returned to a vein or artery.
There are currently two hospitals using this technique in their treatments: Erasmus MC(Sophia Children’s Hospital in the ICK department) and Radboud UMC.
The ECMO bed is a unique bed that offers many conveniences for the nursing staff, but above all comfort for the baby. Thanks to the bed, the child experiences more rest.
